Edinboro, Pa. (October 14, 2014) – The Women's Soccer team defeated Edinboro this evening in non conference play, ending the Fighting Scot's seven-game win streak in the PSAC.
The victory also gave the Redhawks their third win in as many tries against teams from Pennsylvania. Additionally, Edinboro is currently ranked No. 7 in the Atlantic region.
The match was tight in the first half neither team managed to score.
Bella Mitrevski broke through Edinboro's defense first off a pass from
Heaven Palamitia five minutes into the second half. Roberts Wesleyan's lead was soon taken down by Edinboro less than 20 minutes later when a shot rebounded out from the Redhawks goal and was put back in by Edinboro's Alex Brown.
The game would continue into overtime with the first period scoreless. Mitrevski ended the match in the 106
th minute of play. Mitrevski scored off a turnover by Edinboro.
Goalie
Marissa Sell recorded five saves, she currently leads the ECC in total saves.
The win brings the Redhawks record to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Roberts Wesleyan is back in ECC action this Friday October 17
th at Molloy College at 4pm.
