AMHERST, N.Y. (Oct. 15, 2014) – Roberts Wesleyan made quick work of their Thruway rivals this evening, defeating Daemen in straight sets.
The Redhawks, who improved to 3-3 in three set matches, escaped the first two sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-20 before cruising in the third set with a score of 25-14.
The win also gave the visitors the season sweep in the two-match regular season series while improving to 5-1 in road matches.
In the match, middle blocker
Jordan Wilson posted a .476 hitting percentage as she recorded 12 kills on 21 attempts. Her fellow senior
Judy Schultz also had a productive night with 11 kills on 22 attempts to finish with a .409 hitting percentage.
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan had a .330 hitting percentage while committing just 10 attack errors. Conversely, the Wildcats had 22 attack errors to go along with a .072 hitting percentage.
Maggie Concannon posted 34 assists for the Redhawks while adding two kills while
Kendall Havener had one solo block as she assisted on seven more.
The win puts Roberts Wesleyan at 10-6 overall and 6-3 in East Coast Conference play. The team continues their road swing with crucial matches at ECC-leading Bridgeport and Dowling this weekend.
