Oakdale N.Y. (October 19, 2014) – The Women's Volleyball team fell to Dowling College 3-1 this afternoon after pushing play to four sets.
From the first set Roberts Wesleyan knew this would be a hard match especially after taking Bridgeport who remains undefeated in the conference, to five sets yesterday. Dowling won the opening set but not without great effort from the Redhawks the set ended 25-27. Roberts Wesleyan took the second set in a definitive 25-20 win, but Dowing pushed back in the third.
The third set went into the thirties, ending disappointingly for the Redhawks 34-36 in Dowling's favor. Roberts let up in the fourth and final set to lose 12-25.
Senior
Judy Schultz let the Redhawks in kills with 15 for the match.
Kendall Havener put down 12 kills and defensively added six blocks.
Courtney Taylor and
Jordan Wilson also added to the offense with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
Maggie Concannon had 39 assists for the Redhawks.
On the defensive end
Olivia Zureck had a game high 34 digs while
Becca Maher and
Alexandre Tahauri both added 14.
The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 10-8 overall and 6-5 in the ECC.
The Redhawks are on the road again next weekend for the Nyack college tri match on Saturday October 25, they face University of the Sciences and Nyack at 1:00pm and 3:00pm respectively.
