Women’s Soccer Breezes by Malone

Mitrevski Swan and Kester score for the Redhawks.

Rochester, N.Y. (October 25, 2014) – The women's Soccer team defeated Malone University 4-0 this afternoon in non conference play.  

Roberts Wesleyan Started off with an early lead Bella Mitrevski fired a shot off a rebound, the ball hit the post to go in on the far side. The play would remain mostly in the Redhawks control for the rest of match.  Jodi Kester scored her first goal of the season off a slotted ball through the Pioneers defense by team mate Orla Martin in the 32nd minute. The half ended 2-0 Redhawks.

Roberts Wesleyan controlled the play in the second half. Early on Ellie Swan headed a ball in, but the goal was taken away by a controversial off- sides call. The Redhawks offense bombarded the Pioneers with a total of 18 shots on goal, but it would not be till the end of the match that the Redhawks would score again.
In the 80th minute Ellie Swan took advantage of a sloppy defensive play to break away and go one on one with the pioneers goalie scoring her sixth goal of the season. Less than a minute later Swan assisted Mitrevski in scoring her second goal of the game and twelfth goal of the season.  Mitrevski is currently second in the ECC for goals.

Goalie Marissa Sell earned the shut out making a total of four saves.

The win gives the Redhawks an overall record of 8-8-0.

Roberts Wesleyan closes out their season this coming weekend with games on Friday and Sunday at home. The women face LIU Post Friday October 31st at 5:00pm. Candy will be given out for Halloween.
