Kendall Havener put together a memorable outing on Sunday, leading the Redhawks to a pair of wins at a tri-match hosted by Mercy.
Havener tallied 29 kills over the two matches, including 19 kills to go along with a .548 hitting percentage in a four-set win against Dominican (N.Y.). Havener had just two attack errors out of 31 attempts for the Redhawks , who improved to 13-9 with the wins.
Joining Havener in double figures was classmate
Jordan Wilson, who had 16 kills and an impressive .583 hitting percentage. The middle blocker recorded 24 kills over the two matches while freshman
Courtney Taylor added 14 kills for Roberts Wesleyan.
In the match against Dominican, the Redhawks fell 25-27 in the first set before reeling off three straight to take the match, including a second set score of 25-7. That score was the lowest score by an opponent this season.
The opening match saw Roberts Wesleyan cruise past Mercy in three sets to earn the series sweep against the Mavericks.
In that match, Havener tallied 10 kills off of 22 attempts to lead the Redhawks. As a team, Roberts Wesleyan hit .274 while holding Mercy to a .173 hitting percentage and forcing Mercy to commit 19 attack errors.
The win against Mercy puts the Redhawks at 7-5 in East Coast Conference play as they are currently sitting in the fourth and final ECC tournament qualifying spot.
Roberts Wesleyan has four matches left in the regular season as they prepare to host Molloy on Saturday and Queens on Sunday. The team then visits NYIT and LIU Post the following weekend.
