The Redhawks earned a crucial conference win at home against the Spartans

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2014) – Roberts Wesleyan cruised to a 4-0 win at home this evening in a crucial East Coast Conference match-up.

The Redhawks used two goals from Heaven Palamitia while goalkeepers Marissa Sell and Alyssa Jim shared the shutout in goal for a team that has now climbed back to a .500 overall record. The win also gives the team their first victory in conference play.

Palamitia got things going for the home team as she found the back of the net in the 23rd minute off of a header pass from Jackie Corbett.

That goal was followed up by Bella Mitrevski less than 10 minutes later when she managed to put a one-touch shot into the goal when she found herself unmarked in open space in front of the goal.

With less than one minute remaining in the first half, Palamitia added the third goal of the game for the Redhawks.

Corbett then added an insurance goal at the 71st minute. Both Corbett and Swan finished the game with a goal and assist.

The score could have be more lop-sided, but the Redhawks were called offside six times. On one occasion, Corbett thought she had a second goal before it was called back in the second half.

In goal, Sell played 76 minutes while making three saves before handing the duties over to Jim, who record two stops for the Redhawks. The shutout is the second in as many games and the third on the year.

The win puts Roberts Wesleyan at 5-5-0 overall and improves them to 1-2-0 in conference play. They are back in action this Sunday when they entertain No.25 Mercy at 1pm.
