Rochester, N.Y. (October 5, 2014) – The Women's Soccer team fell in over time to Mercy 4-3 this afternoon in conference play.
The game was looking up for the Redhawks when
Heaven Palamitia scored about ten minutes into play off a pass from
Bella Mitrevski to the top of the 18 yard box. Palamitia finished the shot in the low left corner. Mercy came back to tie the half in the 33
rd minute off of a free kick.
Roberts Wesleyan started the second half strong.
Ellie Swan broke through Mercy's defense from a through ball by Palamitia to put Roberts Wesleyan in the lead. In the closing minutes of the game Palamitia again slotted a ball to Mitrevski for the Redhawks third goal.
The game fell apart for the Redhawks in the last ten minutes of regulation play. Mercy had back to back goals off of mix ups in the back line forcing the Redhawks into overtime. Mercy scored with just minutes left of the first overtime period when a player broke through off an unsure pass from Roberts 's defense.
The loss puts the Redhawks at 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the ECC.
The Women's team is on the road for to face ECC rivals Daemen College Saturday October 11
th at 12:30pm.
