Roberts Wesleyan Falls to Concordia (N.Y.) at ECC-CACC Challenge

Newcomer Marcus Gooding led the Redhawks with 16 points while hitting four from beyond the arc

AMHERST, N.Y. (Nov. 15, 2014) – Roberts Wesleyan dropped a 78-64 decision against Concordia (N.Y.) this afternoon in their second game at the ECC-CACC Challenge.

The Redhawks only led early in the game as Concordia controlled the game throughout the contest.

Both teams shot the ball well, as Roberts Wesleyan shot 42.4% from the field and an event 50% from beyond the arc. However, the Clippers were able to shoot 50% from the field and 52.9% from long range.

Concordia also took advantage of their opportunities, scoring 20 points off of the Redhawks; 13 turnovers.

For Roberts Wesleyan, newcomer Marcus Gooding poured in 16 points after hitting 4 of 7 from three-point range and 6 of 11 from the field. The transfer from Monroe Community College shot nearly 50% from beyond the arc for the Tribunes last season.

Tyrel Dixon and Jordan McBride added 11 points as Kevin Madiamba led the team with 10 rebounds while adding seven points.

For Concordia, Jamie Holder and Andrew Peacock led with a game-high 21 points.

The game between the two teams was the first-ever meeting in program history.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 1-1 on the early season as they are now off until Saturday, Nov. 29 when they make their home debut against Adelphi at 2pm.
