ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Nov. 26, 2014) – After winning the NCAA Division II East Region championship last Saturday,
Rachel Prutsman and head coaches
Andrew Dorr and
Jennifer Dorr have picked up
USTFCCCA individual honors.
Prutsman was named the East Region Women's Athlete of the Year after being the first runner to cross the finish line at the regional race after edging out conference rival, Tayla Williams of LIU Post, by 5.3 seconds. The senior also won the NCCAA National Championship meet two weeks ago.
The region's Coaches of the Year award goes to the Dorr's who have guided the team to unprecedented success this season. The co-head coaches led the Redhawks to a 1-5-7-8-11 finish last weekend to take the regional title, 31 points ahead of second place finishers, Stonehill. The Skyhawks had won the race five-straight times until this year.
Under the Dorr's, Roberts Wesleyan has won the NCCAA National Championship for the second consecutive year while also winning the East Coast Conference title earlier this month.
Both the Men's and Women's teams will take part in the NCAA Division II National Championship races next Saturday at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.
