The Redhawks downed NYIT in four sets to earn a spot in the upcoming ECC Tournament

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2014) – With a four-set win over NYIT this afternoon, Roberts Wesleyan secured a spot in the upcoming East Coast Conference tournament.

The Redhawks, who have won six straight matches, used 14 kills from both Jordan Wilson and Courtney Taylor to sweep NYIT this season.

Wilson was very effective as she posted a .464 hitting percentage off of 28 attempts to lead Roberts Wesleyan. She also tallied a solo block while assisting on another. With one match remaining, the senior has a team-high 288 kills while leading the ECC with her .380 hitting percentage.

Taylor finished the match with a .297 hitting percentage off of 37 total attempts.

Kendall Havener also had a productive day with her 10 kills, nine digs, two aces, and two block assists.

Junior setter Maggie Concannon notched 41 assists in the winning effort whole adding 12 digs. Only Olivia Zureck had more with her 13 digs.

By qualifying for the ECC tournament, the Redhawks are making history by being the first team to qualify for an ECC post-season championship tournament since Roberts Wesleyan was granted NCAA Division II active membership this summer.
