KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2014) – Roberts Wesleyan fell to No. 2 Lee (Tenn.), 2-0, this evening in their first game of pool play at the NCCAA National Championships.
The eighth-seeded Redhawks fell behind quickly when the Flames' Kathryn Healy scored off of a ricocheted shot, beating goalkeeper
Marissa Sell in the sixth minute.
Lee would round out the scoring in the 70
th minute when Sarah Standley found the back of the net from just five yards out on the right side of goal.
In all, Lee made nine shots while placing six of those on frame.
For the Redhawks,
Bella Mitrevski tallied four shots, putting two in front of goal. As a team, Roberts Wesleyan forced Lee's goalkeeper Marbel Egwuenu to make five stops while Sell was credited with four saves.
The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 11-10 overall as they now prepare to take on No. 5 Judson (Ill.) tomorrow at 4:30pm in their second and final pool play game.
