ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 12, 2014) – Roberts Wesleyan opened up their conference schedule with a 63-58 come-from-behind win at home this evening.
After trailing 28-19 with less than five minutes left in the first half, the Redhawks made a short eight-point rally before heading into the locker room trailing Queens, 30-27. Roberts Wesleyan then came out of the break trading points with the Knights for the first five minutes.
With 15 minutes left in the game, the Redhawks took control of the game as they used a 15-3 run over the next 6:46 to take the lead.
Despite poor free-throw shooting (57.9%) as a team, the Redhawks hit enough of their shots at the line down the stretch to secure the win over the struggling Knights.
In the winning effort, senior Isaac Medeiors paced the Redhawks with 22 points as he went 5 of 11 from the field and 12-15 from the free-throw line.
Teammates
Kevin Madiamba added 14 points while
Tyrel Dixon added 10. For Madiamba, the swingman led the team from long range, going 2 of 3.
As a team the Redhawks shot 40% from the field and 31.3% from beyond the arc.
For Queens, who falls to 0-7, was led by Jeremiah Mordi's 14 points.
The win puts Roberts Wesleyan at 5-2 overall and 1-0 in East Coast Conference action. The team is back in action on Saturday at 4pm.
