Molloy Slips Past Men's Basketball, 80-75

Five players scored in double-digits for the Roberts Wesleyan in the loss to the Lions

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 13, 2014) – The Men's Basketball team came up just short in an 80-75 home loss to Molloy this evening.

After trailing 40-43 at halftime, the Redhawks used an 11-4 run over the first four minutes of the second, which gave the team the lead when Marcus Gooding drained a jump shot, making it 45-44.

Roberts Wesleyan then took control of the game with a 12-run that nearly spanned the next four minutes to make it a 57-49 ball game with less than 13 minutes remaining in the game.

However, a win for the Redhawks was not in the cards as Molloy regained the lead with a pair of free-throws from Jaylen Morris with four minutes left.

The Lions were able to hit their shots from the charity stripe down the stretch to solidify the road win.

For the Redhawks, junior guard Marcus Gooding picked up his first double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Gooding was 8 of 18 from the field, including 3 of 9 from long range.

As a team, Roberts Wesleyan saw five players score in double-digits.

Isaac Medeiros led with a game-high 20 points as Jamaal Carter came off the bench to chip in 12 points. Both Kevin Madiamba and Tyrel Dixon added 10 points.

Perhaps the stat of the game was Molloy's 19 bench points compared to the Redhawks' four points.

As a team, Roberts Wesleyan shot 38.6% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range, and 84.2% from the line.

For the Lions, Charlie Marquardt and Brandon Williams each scored a team-high 19 points as the team improves to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in conference action.

The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 5-3 overall and 1-1 in East Coast Conference play.

The Redhawks are back in action this Friday when they visit the nation's capital to take on the District of Columbia at 5pm.
