(January 30, 2015)Â - After a four game losing streak, Roberts Wesleyan were able to break that in tonights 81-72 win against Queens College. The Knights (3-15, 3-8 ECC).Â
The Redhawks (8-9, 4-7 ECC) hope to continue on this win streak as they face Molloy College tomorrow afternoon.Â
A Close First HalfAfter Queens was the first to score in the first half, Roberts quickly jumped to a 12-2 lead when
Marcus Gooding hit a long range shot. The junior guard would end up with a team high of 24 points by the end of the game. The Knights faught hard to close the gap, tying it at 36 points going into halftime.Â
Fighting For The WinStarting the second half,
Jordan McBride was the first to score for the Redhawks. He added a total of five points by the end of the game. With a shooting percetage of 52.4 from the field in the second half, the Redhawks began to pull ahead.
Marcus Gooding scored 18 of his 24 points alone in the second half.
Isaac Medeiros added another 15 points and eight rebouds for the Redhawks.Â
The Knights had three players score in the double digits. Kyhiem Chaplin had a team high of 22 points. The Redhawks outrebounded the Knights 42-31, giving the Redhawks 21 second chance points.
Roberts Clinches the LeadWith a little over three minutes left in the game, the Redhawks continue to score, widening the gap. Roberts Wesleyan had a great shooting percentage in the second half, allowing them to come out on top with the win.Â
