BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer fell on the road this evening, 2-1 in overtime, to LIU Post in a tense East Coast Conference game.
After conceding an early goal, the Redhawks battled throughout the game before
Bella Mitrevski converted a penalty kick in the 85
th minute to send the game into extra time. However, it was LIU Post that found the back of the net in the 104
th minute to take the win.
Turning PointThe Pioneers' Susanne Vistnes sent home her shot in the area off of a cross from the right side in the 104
th minutes to earn the win. It was her 14
th goal of the season.
Individual Leaders-
With her penalty kick, Mitrevski also has 14 goals on the year. She paced the Redhawks with five shots.-
Orla Martin was also a main contributor, coming off the bench to place both of her shots on goal.
Inside the Box Score- Both teams placed six shots on goal.
- LIU Post was called offside three times while the Redhawks were never called offside.
News & Notes- Roberts Wesleyan sits in second place in the conference standings after the loss as Bridgeport in the only team in the ECC with an unblemished conference record.
- The game saw two of the top three points earners in the ECC square-off against each other. Mitrevski is third with 35 points (14 goals, 7 assists) while Vistnes is at 36 points (15 goals, 6 assists).
