Molloy Edges Volleyball in Five Sets

Courtney Taylor had a career day with her 27 kills for the Redhawks

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan volleyball team narrowly fell this afternoon in a five-set match to Molloy inside the Voller Athletic Center.

Roberts Wesleyan and Molloy traded sets before the Lions controlled play in the deciding set, taking the 15-12 win.

Despite the loss, the Redhawks had an exciting performance from sophomore outside hitter Courtney Taylor, who tallied 27 kills off of 54 attacks to finish the match with a .389 hitting percentage. That performance puts Taylor tied for fourth in the program record book for kills in a match, tying former standout Jamie Culp.

Fellow outside hitter Kate Steger also had a productive match, recording 18 kills while middle blocker Kristina Button added 10 kills off of just 21 attacks for a .476 hitting percentage.

The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 1-2 in the East Coast Conference and 1-11 overall.

The Redhawks are off until next weekend when they travel to NYIT on Saturday, Oct. 10.
