Men's Basketball Rallies to Edge Geneseo in Wendy's Semifinal

The Redhawks were led by freshman Quinn Carey's 33 points against SUNY Geneseo

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball is heading back to the Wendy's College Classic final after edging SUNY Geneseo, 85-82.

It is the third straight appearance in the championship game as the Redhawks are seeking their second consecutive title in the tournament.
 
How it Happened:
After trailing as much as 13 points in the second half, the Redhawks chipped away at the deficit before taking the lead for good with 1:37 remaining with a jumper from Quinn Carey. The freshman was spectacular, scoring a game-high 33 points  after going 8 of 12 from beyond the arc.

With Roberts Wesleyan leading by just one with 15 second on the clock, fellow freshman Zack Panebianco made a layup to make it a three-point ball game.
Geneseo managed to put up a pair of three-point attempts, but they wouldn't fall as the Redhawks hung on for the win.
 
Key Stat:
Roberts Wesleyan shot 53.9 percent from three-point range in the second half while holding the Knights to 0-5 from beyond the arc.
 
Inside the Numbers:
- The Redhawks freshman duo of Carey and Panebianco accounted for 11 of the team's 12 three-pointers.
- Malike Dare led the team with 10 rebounds while adding seven points.
-  The Knights were led by Justin Ringen who scored 30 points after going 11 of 18 from the field.
 
"Carey's" Impact:
The freshman finished the game one three-pointer away from trying the program record with his 8 of 12 performance from long range.

Coming off the bench, Carey helped the Redhawks' reserves score 48 points.
 
Up Next:
The Redhawks will face No. 5-seeds Rochester on the Yellowjackets home court, Louis Alexander Palestra tomorrow evening at 8 p.m.
