PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (February 17, 2015) – In their season opener, Roberts Wesleyan cruised to a dominating 17-9 win at Ohio Valley this evening.
After leading Roberts Wesleyan in scoring last season, attackman
Dom Cianfarano picked up where he left off by scoring six goals for the Redhawks. The junior took a total of 12 shots, putting 11 on frame against the outmatched Fighting Scots.
Newcomer
Zac Sapor put the Redhawks on the board first in the first minute of action before
London Booker and Cianfarano each scored in the first five minutes, giving Roberts Wesleyan an early 3-0 lead. Booker would score three more times, finishing the game with four goals off of just five shots.
After gaining a 6-2 lead through 15 minutes, the visitors piled on three more goals in the second quarter to head in halftime with a 9-4 lead.
The second half was more of the same as the Redhawks outscored Ohio Valley 8-5 over the final 30 minutes.
Other key players that fueled the convincing win were
Brady Bermingham and
Matt Benedict. Bermingham ended the game with three goals as Benedict scored twice while being credited with seven assists.
Goalkeeper
Steven Keefer played the entire 60 minutes, making seven stops to pick up the win.
The Redhawks have a quick turnaround as they continue their road trip in West Virginia as they visit Wheeling Jesuit tomorrow at 4 p.m.
