BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (February 22, 2015) -Â Roberts Wesleyan (1-2, 0-1 ECC) suffered their first conference loss after falling to No. 2 LIU Post (2-0, 1-0 ECC) this afternoon.
Junior midfielder, Cody Lewis, was the first to score for the Redhawks within the first two minutes of the game. The Pioneers responded quickly with a 9-0 run before Matt Benedict could score, putting the Redhawks behind 2-9 going into halftime. In the third quarter, the Redhawks were only able to score one goal to Post's four goals, bring the score 3-13 going into the final quarter.Roberts Wesleyan attempted to make a late comeback when they allowed Post to only score once in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the Pioneers. This was the Redhawks best quarter as they scored four goals.   Sophomore attacker, Matt Benedict led the team with a hat trick and one assist for a total of four points. Cody Lewis had three points with his two goals and one assist. Sophomores Mike Hubert and Brady Bermingham each added one goal. In goal, Keith Keen had 12 saves out of 38 shots on goal.
The Pioneers had six total players score at least one goal, while three of them had hat tricks; Matt Bellando, Ryan Slane, and Chris Calazza.
Roberts Wesleyan will be on the road again Wednesday, February 25 as they take on Lake Erie College.
