PAINESVILLE, Ohio (February 25, 2015) – In an afternoon game today, Roberts Wesleyan fell on the road to Lake Erie, 14-6.
Dom Cianfarano put the Redhawks (1-3) on the board first less than four minutes into the game, but the Storm (1-0) responded with four goals of their own to make it 4-1 through the first 15 minutes.
In the second quarter,
Cody Lewis scored for Roberts Wesleyan with 46 seconds taken off the clock to make it a 4-2 Lake Erie lead. However, the Storm would score five of the next seven goals to take a commanding 8-4 lead into halftime.
In the second half, it was more Lake Erie as they put up three unanswered goals in the third quarter, making it an 11-4 lead.
Over the final 15 minutes, Cianfarano and
Matt Benedict would each find the back of the net, but it wasn't enough as Lake Erie piled on three more goals in the quarter.
Both Benedict and Cianfarano finished the game with two goal apiece while Lewis and
Jordan Crusha each added another for the visitors.
The Redhawks had plenty of extra-man opportunities in the game as Lake Erie racked up eight minutes of penalties compare to Roberts Wesleyan's three and a half minutes.
In goal,
Keith Keehn took the loss after making 13 stops.
Roberts Wesleyan makes their home debut this Saturday at 3 p.m. when they host Molloy.
