ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 28, 2015) – Playing their first game in two weeks, Roberts Wesleyan fell at home to No. 4 NYIT this afternoon, 17-5.
Roberts Wesleyan kept the Bears at a manageable distance through the first 15 minutes. With a little more than 10 minutes to play in the first quarter,
Dom Cianfarano tied the game at 2-2 before NYIT scored three-straight to make it a 5-2 lead.
Seth Miller got one back for Roberts Wesleyan with 1:47 left , making it a two goal NYIT lead, but that was going to be as close as the Redhawks would get the rest of the way.
After Cianfarano scored with 6:08 left in the third quarter to put the score at 8-5, NYIT reeled off nine unanswered goals to close out the game.
In all, Cianfarano tallied three goals as
Brady Bermingham and Miller each added one goal for Roberts Wesleyan.
Keith Keehn was kept busy as the Bears pelted the Redhawks' goal with 43 shots. In all, Keehn made 19 saves after facing 36 shots on goal.
The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 3-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Redhawks will hit the road as they travel to Alderson-Broaddus (W.Va.) this coming Thursday for a 3 p.m. game.
