ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 4, 2015) – In this afternoon's game, Roberts Wesleyan (2-4) picks up their first win at home.
It was a rough start for the Redhawks as Walsh netted back to back in the first period. Sophomore attacker
Mike Hubert responded with a goal, leaving the Redhawks behind 2-1. Going into the second period, Roberts Wesleyan began to claw their way back as
Cody Lewis and
Dom Cianfarano each scored for the Redhawks.
Coming out of halftime, the Redhawks continued to rise as they went on a 3-0 run in three minutes, giving them a 6-2 lead over the Cavaliers. Â Walsh responded with two more goals, allowing them to begin closing the gap going into the fourth period.
With the Redhawks scoring one more time in the fourth period, Walsh decided to attempt a late comeback. Brain Crim scored the final two goals for Walsh, but it was not enough to overcome Roberts Wesleyan. As the final period began to come to an end, the Redhawks were able to hold onto the lead and finish the game with a win.
The Redhawks had six players score for them this afternoon.
Dom Cianfarano led the team with two goals and one assist giving him a total of three points for the game.
Matt Benedict finished the game with three points as well; one goal and two assists.
Mike Hubert,
London Booker,
Cody Lewis, and
Brady Bermingham each added one goal.
In goal,
Keith Keehn had a total of eight saves out of 14 shots on goal.
The Redhawks will play again Saturday, March 7 at the College of Saint Rose at 1 p.m.
