Tyrel Dixon's double-double wasn't enough in the loss to the Pioneers

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. –Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball fell to LIU Post, 70-59, Saturday afternoon in an East Coast Conference road game.

Freshman guard Zack Panebianco paced the Redhawks with 14 points as Tyrel Dixon added a double-double effort with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

How It Happened
LIU Post, who sit atop the conference standings, forced the Redhawks to turn the ball over 15 times, scoring 18 points off of Roberts Wesleyan's miscues.

The visitors led 23-22 at the 4:25 mark of the first half when Mike Stone drained a three-pointer. However, that was the last time Roberts Wesleyan had the lead as the Pioneers used a 10-3 run over the final minutes of the first half to solidify their advantage.

Key Stat
The Pioneers held a decisive advantage in second chance points (19 to 7) as Roberts Wesleyan was out-rebounded 47 to 42.

Inside the Numbers
- The game was a defensive battle as neither team shot particularly well. LIU Post shot 39.1 percent from the field as the Redhawks shot 33.3 percent.
- Despite shooting just 23.5 percent from beyond the arc, Roberts Wesleyan made eight three-pointers to LIU Post's four.
- Dixon now has five double-doubles this season.
- Forward Malik Dare was just one rebound shy of a double-double as he finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. The sophomore also blocked two shots.

The senior forward was busy on both sides of the ball as he shot an efficient 5 of 7 from the field while also being credited with three assists, turning the ball over just one time.

Defensively, Dixon stole the ball twice while collecting all of her 12 rebounds on the defensive glass.
