ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball fell at home to St. Thomas Aquinas in an East Coast Conference match-up Saturday afternoon, 90-68.
Despite leading 47-41 at halftime, Roberts Wesleyan was unable to stop the Spartans' Justin Reyes, who scored 16 of his 27 points in the second half.
The first half saw both teams shoot better than 60 percent from the field as the Redhawk hit 8 of 14 from long range before going cold in the second half, hitting 1 of 12 from three-point range. Conversely, St. Thomas Aquinas went 5 of 6 from beyond the arc in the second half.
The visitors took the lead for good in the middle of the second half as they went on a 12-2 run over five and a half minutes, which was capped off by a pair of free throws from Reyes with 12:48 left.
For the Redhawks,
Mike Stone led the team with 13 points as
Malik Dare and
Marcus Gooding each added 10 points.
For the second game in a row,
Tyrel Dixon was credited with seven assists while adding five points.
The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the ECC as they host Daemen Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
