Syracuse, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss to Le Moyne College on Wednesday night.
Â
The Redhawks won the second set 25-22 and the fourth set 27-25, but dropped the final set 15-9 to fall to a 6-10 record on the season.
Courtney Taylor led the team with 12 kills and
Elisabeth Rivera added in 48 assists for the game.
Â
After falling behind 1-0 following the first set the Redhawks got out to a 6-2 start in the second.
Kristina Button had back-to-back kills and a block to set up the strong start. Up 23-16, Roberts Wesleyan had to fend off a Le Moyne comeback attempt as the Dolphins scored six straight points, much in part to Natalie Casson who had three kills and a block in that stretch. But kills by
Riley Moll and
Elisabeth Rivera finished the set to tie the match up 1-1.
Â
Roberts Wesleyan fell in the third set 25-17, but came back in a tightly contested fourth set to win 27-25. The set never saw more than a three point differential as both teams traded points back and forth. The Redhawks rallied for three straight points to end the set and get the win off a kill from
Alexandre Tahauri and two attacked errors on the Dolphins.
Â
The Redhawks struggled to get moving in the final set losing 15-9 after the team got behind 12-6 and was never able to tighten the score.
Â
Roberts Wesleyan (6-10) will face off against Mercy College on Sunday, October 16 at noon.
