Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's volleyball team saw a thrilling, tightly contested match slip through their fingers Sunday afternoon against Mercy College, losing 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-17).

With the score knotted at 5-5 in the first set the Redhawks took a five point rally and ran with it as they won the opening set 25-21. Senior
Alexandre Tahauri had three kills in the five point stretch with
Kristina Button also adding a kill.

After dropping two straight sets the Redhawks saw themselves down 7-5 in the fourth set, but the team was able to go on a six point run to grab the lead at 11-7.
Elisabeth Rivera had two service aces in that span. Roberts Wesleyan finished the set strong with five straight points to win the set 25-18 forcing four attack errors on the Mavericks.

In the fifth set a kill by
Anjali Thomson gave the Redhawks a 14-12 lead, but Mercy was able to fight off match point to tie things at 14 all. Roberts again grabbed the lead at 15-14, but the Mavericks strung together three straight points off kills from Peyton Olson to close out the match and win the set 17-15.

Tahauri led the Redhawks with 16 kills while Button added 14 alongside four blocks. Rivera dished out 56 assists and
Olivia Zureck provided 21 digs in the effort.

Roberts Wesleyan (6-11) has dropped their last four matches and will host Queens College and Molloy College this weekend in East Coast Conference play.
