Rochester, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan volleyball team defeated Queens College Friday night in three straight sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-22) to pick up their seventh win of the season.
 
The Redhawks took control of the match from the get-go and ran with it as they looked to senior 
Alexandre Tahauri for offense who provided 16 kills on the night.
 
In the first set the Redhawks got out to a 10-2 start with Queens only scoring off two Roberts Wesleyan service errors. The Knights tightened the score at 21-15, but four straight points including an ace from Kristian Button closed out the set win for Roberts.
 
The Redhawk defense continued its strong play in the second set holding the Knights to just 17 points. The defense was led by 
Olivia Zureck who had a team high 13 digs while Button added two solo blocks and assisted on a block in the match. The Redhawks again closed the set out with emphasis on a 5-1 run. Button had two aces in that span along with two kills by 
Kate Steger.
 
In the third set Roberts Wesleyan found themselves down 16-13 but rallied from behind to capture the lead at 20-19 and then fend off the Knights to take the set 25-22.
 
Roberts Wesleyan (7-11, 4-4 ECC) continues action on Saturday when they host Molloy College at noon.
