Alexandre Tahauri's team-leading 19 kills and 18 digs helped the Roberts Wesleyan volleyball team pick up a 3-2 East Coast Conference win against Molly on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks found wins in the second, fourth and fifth set to win the match. In the second set the team fell behind early 6-2, but a 6-1 run propelled Roberts Wesleyan to take the lead. The run was highlighted by a service ace from
Elisabeth Rivera and kills by four different Redhawks. Kills by
Courtney Taylor and
Anjali Thomson closed the set out to give Roberts the 25-17 victory.
Thomson found a rhythm in a fourth set win (25-19) to pace the offense for the Redhawks. The 6-2 senior notched five kills off feeds from Rivera who totaled 57 assists on the game.
Roberts Wesleyan dominated the final set winning 15-5 after scoring eight straight points to close out the set.
Kate Steger had three kills in that span including the final two points. Tahauri added a service ace and Courney Taylor and
Kristina Button added a block.
The Redhawks will travel to face NYIT and LIU Post next Saturday and Sunday in pivotal ECC matchups as Roberts heads into its final five games of the season.
