Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's volleyball team struggled to get the offense moving this weekend dropping two matches in straight sets to the New York Institute of Technology on Saturday and LIU Post on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Redhawks were led by
Kate Steger's six kills and six block assists. In late September, Roberts Wesleyan took NYIT to five sets at home in a competitive match that they weren't able to pull out, but on Saturday the Bears took full advantage of home court advantage sweeping the Redhawks 17-25, 23-25, 18-25. Roberts could not find consistency on the offensive end with only 28 kills and 17 hitting errors on the day.
On Sunday, the offensive woes continued for Roberts Wesleyan as the team combined for a -.012 hitting percentage with 17 kills and 18 errors. The LIU Post Pioneers swept the match in three sets, 19-25, 8-25, 19-25. The Redhawks struggled to keep the game in check as the Pioneers capitalized on several multiple point runs, including a 15-0 run in the second set.
Roberts Wesleyan (8-13, 5-6 ECC) head into the final three home games of the season. They will host the University of Bridgeport on Friday at 7 p.m.
