Rochester, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team was busy on offense Wednesday night for their regular season finale as they defeated Nyack College 5-1 in a game that saw the Redhawks get off 31 shots.
Senior Bella Mitrevksi and freshman
Maya Rutland both scored two goals in the win.
Taylor Rutland also added in one goal.
From the first whistle the Redhawks put heavy pressure on the Warriors keeping much of the play in Nyack's defensive end. Mitrevski found the back of the net in the 11
th minute off a feed from T. Rutland. Taylor would add a goal of her own in the 34
th minute to put the Redhawks up 2-0.
In the second half, Taylor's twin sister Maya scored back-to-back goals in the 48
th and 61
st minute to break open to lead to 4-0.
Nyack found their way onto the scoreboard in the 78
th minute when Lexis Evans rebounded a shot off the crossbar and slotted it in the back of the net.
Mitrevski added the final goal of the game in the 85
th minute for her second of the game, leading the Redhawks to the 5-1 win.
"Definitely good to get a win in our final regular season game," head coach
Sarah McClellan said. "This team has showed good progress throughout the regular season. Now we look to execute at a higher level heading into playoffs."
Roberts Wesleyan (10-4-2) awaits the finishes of fellow East Coast Conference opponents to see who they will face in the conference playoffs.
