Rochester, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team dropped to 0-5 on the season on Monday night as they fell 94-84 to St. Edwards University.
The Redhawks shot well from the field going 34-for-67 (50.7%) in the game. Sophomore guard
Quinn Carey led the hot shooting for Roberts Wesleyan hitting five three-pointers in the first half.
Midway through the first half Carey's three pointer gave Roberts the first lead of the game at 25-23.
Isaiah Lewis added another three followed by a steal and layup to give the Redhawks a seven point lead with just over eight minutes left in the half. St. Edwards was able to recapture the lead with under five minutes to go in the first half and held a 48-45 lead at the intermission.
In the second half Roberts Wesleyan took the lead back at the 12:19 mark and was able to extend the lead to three points before the Hilltoppers regained the lead and held on to get their third win of the season. St. Edwards was led by senior guard John Gramlich who scored 21 points.
Roberts had 16 turnovers in the game leading to 21 points for the Hilltoppers.
Carey finished with 15 total points with Lewis also dropping in 15 points. Junior guard
Manny Joseph led the team in rebounds with nine.
Roberts Wesleyan (0-5, 0-1 ECC) will take on Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday, Nov. 30 in Sparkill, N.Y.
