Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Ohio  - A weekend trip to Ohio for the Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team saw them tie Ohio Dominican University 1-1 on Friday night and defeat Walsh University 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Roberts Wesleyan vs. Ohio Dominican

The Redhawks spent most of the game Friday evening against Ohio Dominican trying to play catch up as they conceded a goal in the first half at the 30th minute mark. But a timely goal late in the second half (84:56) by Orla Martin sent the contest into overtime where neither team could take advantage and pick up the win.

"I thought we came out a step slow in the first half," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "Then the girls played a tremendous second half and overtime. I'm very proud of the effort."

Roberts Wesleyan struggled to connect in the first half with only two shots compared to Panthers seven shots. But the Redhawks came out in the second half like a completely different team. They put pressure on Ohio Dominican's defense firing off 13 shots while limiting the opponent to just six. The lone Redhawk goal scorer, Martin and senior Bella Mitrevski led the team with five shots a piece.

In the first overtime period Roberts Wesleyan had the early advantage with three shots on goal, but Panther goalkeeper Kelsey Harris would not let anything past her. Momentum shifted in the second overtime period as Ohio Domincan rifled off three shots on net. Redhawk's starting goalkeeper Kelsey Brinkel made eight saves on the night.

Each team earned a point for the tie.

Roberts Wesleyan vs. Walsh

On Sunday afternoon the women's soccer team earned their first win of the season by defeating Walsh University 1-0 after Mackenzie Kidder scored in the 66th minute to seal the victory for the Redhawks.

Kidder's goal came off a free kick from about 25 yards out that she was able to redirect into the goal. Assisting on the goal were Mitrevski and Martin.

Roberts Wesleyan forced four corner kicks and had 4-out of-11 total game shots put on frame. Walsh finished with 16 total shots with seven on frame.

"I thought our team played with a lot of guts today coming off an overtime game on the road," McClellan said. "In the second half the girls dug deep to find a way to win."

Roberts Wesleyan (1-2-1) will prepare for conference play now as they host Saint Thomas Aquinas (2-2) on Friday at 5 p.m.
