Rochester, N.Y. - Senior midfielder
Bella Mitrevski's hat trick led the way to a 7-0 shutout victory for the women's soccer program over the Salem International University Tigers.
The Saturday afternoon homecoming game resulted in shot after shot for the Redhawks as they amassed 64 total shots in the game with 35 shots on goal. Mitrevski netted the first two goals of the game just a minute apart from each other in the 12
th minute and 13
th minute. The senior from Rochester, N.Y. dribbled past multiple defenders to open herself up for clear shots on goal.
Freshmen
Israela Groves and
Taylor Rutland also scored first half goals in the 29
th and 39
th minute to give the Redhawks a 4-0 lead at the half. Goals were assisted on by Mitrevski and
Emilie Sjoekvist.
Mitrevski quickly finished off her hat trick early in the second half when she rebounded her own shot and put it past the keeper to extend the lead to five.
Erica Lamb notched her first goal of the season in the 48
th minute after taking advantage of a misplayed ball in front of the net and putting it in the back of the net.
To finish off the scoring rally,
Tiffany Melendez placed a low shot to the left corner of the goal in the 72
nd minute to beat the keeper for the seventh time on the day.
Roberts Wesleyan (4-3-1) kept most of the game out of their own defensive end allowing no shots throughout the game.
The Redhawks will jump back into East Coast Conference action on Friday, September 30
th when they play away at Molloy College at 4 p.m.
