Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Drops Game to Spartans

Rochester, N.Y. – Facing a tough challenge on Wednesday night going up against the No. 1 ECC team St. Thomas Aquinas, the Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team kept the game close in the first half, but was unable to finish the game off falling, 67-82.

Malik Dare led the scoring effort for the Redhawks with 17 points on a perfect 8-for-8 shooting day from the field.

Turnovers were the downfall for Roberts in the game as they had 19 much in part to the high-pressure full court press the Spartans turned on.

The Redhawks were able to cut a 13 point deficit into just a three point deficit in the second half on a 15-5 run that ended with still 14:52 remaining in the half. But points off turnovers began to allow the Spartans to build a double digit lead.

From the field Roberts shot well hitting on 26-of-51 (51%), but the home team again found it's struggles at the free throw line connecting on just 9-of-18 (50%).

Spartan guard Chaz Walter scored 21 and added six rebounds for St. Thomas Aquinas to pace them for the win. Zack Panebianco was the only other double digit for the Redhawks scoring 13 points.

Roberts Wesleyan (2-16, 1-8 ECC) attempt to get back in the win column on Saturday when they travel to face off against Molloy College at 2 p.m.
