BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team couldn't pick up a win on the road as they fell to East Coast Conference opponent LIU Post, 86-64 on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks largest lead of the game came in the first half at the 12:46 mark when a
Didier Antoine free throw gave the team a 17-12 advantage. Roberts Wesleyan held the lead until the 8:17 mark when a three-pointer by LIU Post's Aary Bibens put the Pioneers in control and gave them a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.
In the second half the Redhawks went cold shooting the ball hitting on just 1-of-9 (11.1%) from beyond the arc and 9-of-29 (31%) from the field.
The Pioneers opened the second half on a 13-4 run to build a 15 point lead. Hoping to follow suit of Wednesday's game in which Roberts made a 16 point comeback in a home win against Mercy College the Redhawks looked to fight their way back in the game and were able to close the gap to just seven points with 7.44 left in the game. But the nearly 50-percent shooting from the Pioneers held the Redhawks off as the host team was able to build the lead for a 22 point win.
Sophomore
Zack Panebianco scored 17 points on 5-of-16 shooting to lead the Redhawks. Junior forward
Manny Joseph notched his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Roberts Wesleyan (2-12, 1-5 ECC) will host NYIT next Saturday in the Voller Athletic Center in ECC action. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
