Men's Lacrosse Falls Short On Senior Night

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Cody Menzies and Alex Bianchi both scored three goals each but it wasn't enough for the Roberts Wesleyan men's lacrosse team to upset No. 8 ranked Mercyhurst University on Tuesday night's senior game.

Bianchi got the Redhawks on the board first with a goal less than one minute into the game. Mercyhurst came back with four straight goals to take away any momentum for Roberts. Bianchi scored again with under four minutes to go in the first quarter to cut Mercyhurst's lead to 4-2.

In the second quarter, sophomore Cody Menzies tallied back-to-back goals to bring Roberts with one of the lead, 5-4. The Lakers responded with a goal, but Bianchi found his third goal of the game with just 10 seconds remaining before the half to make the score 6-5 at the break.

Menzies was the lone goal scorer in the second half for the Redhawks, getting his third of the game with 4:36 left in the third quarter. His goal kept the hope alive for the Redhawks with the score sitting at 9-6. But the Lakers controlled the remaining time in the game while adding three more goals.

Senior Keith Keehn had his highest save total of the season with 19 saves in net.

Roberts Wesleyan (4-10, 1-6 ECC) heads on the road for the final two games of the season. They will take on LIU Post on Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by Georgian Court on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
