ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's volleyball team fell to Le Moyne on Wednesday night 3-1 in their official home opener.

The Redhawks rallied from behind to win the first set 25-23. After being down 23-19 a kill by sophomore
Rachel Holmes began a seven point run for the Redhawks to take the first set victory. Holmes and fellow sophomore
Anastasia Smith both had two kills in the closing points. Freshman
Nikki Simmonds also added two aces.

"Growth with this team is happening," said head coach
Doug Porterfield. "The team is starting to find a rhythm. The first set in the match really showed who we are as a team, but there is still more work to do."

In the final three sets Le Moyne jumped out to early leads leaving Roberts in a difficult deficit to overcome. The Dolphins received most of their offensive firepower from junior right side hitter Jessica Miller who posted 20 kills in the match with a .581 hitting percentage. Senior setter Kendall Corcoran dished out 47 assists in the match.

The Redhawks were led by freshman
Emily Rowlison who finished with 10 kills, one solo block and one block assist. Smith recorded seven kills and a .545 hitting percentage along with four block assists.

Roberts (0-10) will travel to Ohio for the Urbana Invite on Friday and Saturday in seek of their first win of the season. The Redhawks face off against Urbana, Lindenwood, Gannon, and California (Pa.) for their four tournament matches. The team will be back in the Voller Athletic Center again on Friday, September 22 at 7 p.m. when they battle Bridgeport in the first East Coast Conference matchup of the year.
