ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team battled their way to a 2-0 win on the road against Queens College on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks opened up the scoring in the in the second half when a hard foul inside the box allowed the Redhawks a penalty kick opportunity in the 57
thminute. Junior midfielder
Israela Groves' attempt would be successful making the score 1-0.
In the 62
ndminute, the Redhawks would score the final goal of the game when the Queens goalkeeper misplaced a free kick by Groves. This allowed junior
Taylor Rutland to knock the ball in for the goal.
While the Knights outshot the Redhawks ten to five for the game, Roberts only needed two to seal up another ECC conference win. The back line of the Redhawks played an integral part of keeping the Knights out of their net. Also, junior goalkeeper
Kelsey Brinkel played the entire game adding two more saves on the season.
The Roberts Welseyan women's soccer team will have one more away contest before a two-game home stand. The next stop on the schedule is a trip to Salem, West Virginia to face Salem University. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 9.
