Women’s Soccer Falls To Salem, 3-0

MORGANTOWN, WV– The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team took 3-0 a loss to Salem University on the road Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Both teams traded possession back and for most of the first half until the 37thminute as Salem got on the board to make the score 1-0. The goal, scored by Salem attacker Aliyah Armijo, was received after a cross into the 18-yard box where Armijo was able to place into the back of the Redhawk net.
 
The second half saw two more goals scored by the Tigers. In the 66thminute, a Salem attacker went one-on-one with the Redhawk goalkeeper after a pass from Salem's Sophia Wortman, sneaking a shot in goal.
 
The Tigers would seal up their victory with a goal is the 88thminute as the Tiger attacker was fed a through ball and with an open net, managed to place the ball into net.
 
The Salem University Tigers outshot the Redhawks 21-3 on the day. The Redhawks managed to get two of these attempts on goal. Also, junior goalkeeper Kelsey Brinkel played the entire game and added ten more saves on the season.
 
The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team will take on Dominican College at home on October 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 PM.
