ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's lacrosse opened their 2018 season with a dominating 16-3 win over Ohio Valley on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter led by freshman
Hunter Lemieux and junior
Cody Menzies. Both players netted four goals apiece in the first half alone. Lemieux finished with six goals and two assists in his Roberts debut while Menzies posted five goals and one assist.
Roberts scored the first 11 goals of the game before giving up one of only three goals to Ohio Valley.
The Redhawks were able to maintain much of the possession in the game and control the tempo as Roberts won 16 faceoffs and picked up 35 groundballs. Freshman
Mitch Streety was 9-of-12 on faceoffs on the afternoon.
Roberts will hit the road and travel to Newberry, South Carolina to take on Newberry College on Tuesday. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
