Hayward and Amstad Compete at Pepsi Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Roberts Wesleyan sprinters Chelsea Hayward and Kathleen Amstad earned a spot to compete at the prestigious Pepsi Florida Relays hosted by the University of Florida last weekend with Hayward running in both the 100m and 200m while Amstad raced in only the 200m.

Running against NCAA Division I and other elite talent, Hayward and Amstad ran well, turning in impressive performances that stood out against the large group of runners. In the 200 meter dash which featured 101 competitors, Hayward finished 17th overall with a time of 23.88 seconds. The senior's time currently ranks her No. 1 in both the NCAA and NCCAA. Amstad finished 57th overall crossing the line in 24.80 seconds. That time stands as her second best 200m performance since NCCAA Nationals in 2016 where the junior ran a 24.73.

In the 100m dash Hayward finished 23rd posting a time of 11.93 seconds. That time ranks her No. 1 in NCCAA and No. 8 in NCAA DII.

On Monday, Hayward was named the NCCAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athlete of the week for her standout performance at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
