ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team couldn't pull the upset of undefeated NYIT on Friday night at the Midtown Athletic Club. The Redhawks fell to the Bears, 9-0 in the match, dropping to 4-13 on the season and 0-3 in the East Coast Conference.
The No.1 doubles match featuring
Hugo Ball-Greene and
Guido Janssen stayed competitive throughout but NYIT was able to sneak away with a 9-8 victory. The other two doubles teams fell by an 8-5 decision in each match giving the Bears a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Janssen also lost a close match against Fransico Caldas at the No. 2 singles slot, 7-5, 7-6.
The Redhawks will host Kutztown in a non-conference matchup on Sunday at Midtown Athletic Club. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
