ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team dropped a hard fought double overtime battle against New York Tech 1-2 on Wednesday night.
The first goal came to the Redhawks early in the first half by Julia Doriski while Bears' defense was caught up and leaving the box wide open, the freshman saw her opportunity and took the shot giving the Redhawks a 1-0 lead. Â
The remainder of th first half was mostly spent in New York Tech's defensive zone as the Redhawks kept the heat on Bears goalkeeper with another six shots. It was at the 19th minute that Kayla Multer from NYT broke away and tied the game.
In the second half, the Redhawks defense were kept on their toes and it was the goalkeeper Kelsey Brinkel that ultimately kept Roberts in competition. The senior made nine saves in the second half alone keeping the score level for regulation.Â
Overtime was an even matchup between the two teams trading shots through the two 10 minute periods. At the 104th minute, the Bears found the back of the net ending the game at 2-1.Â
After tonight's game, Roberts moves to 2-1-1 in the East Coast Conference. They face off against another conference opponent, Molloy College, this weekend Saturday, October 19th at 1:00 p.m.
