KISSIMMEE, Fla. - It was an even matchup at the NCCAA Championships for the Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team and Campbellsville University after a double overtime game ended in a 0-0 draw.
With the tie during pool play action the Redhawks held onto their positive two goal differential and will move on to the semifinals taking place this Friday as the number four seed.
After fighting shot for shot in the first two periods, an opportunity to top the Tigers presented itself with less than two minutes remaining with a shot by the Redhawks but was ultimately reversed by an offsides call sending the teams into overtime.
Kelsey Brinkel was a key player for Roberts with two crucial saves in the second overtime at the 103rd minute and a save off a header at with 30 seconds remaining in the game. Brinkel had eight total saves playing all 110 minutes in the net.
The Redhawks will take on Cedarville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday night to vie for a spot in the NCCAA Championship game taking place on Saturday.
