MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team dropped a non-conference game on Monday to Mansfield, 75-65.
Freshman
Fope Okuyiga led the Redhawks off the bench with 14 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first double-double of his collegiate career.
Peyton McLaurin also put up 14 points.
Mansfield thrived on its long range shooting to open up a lead against the Redhawks and keep them at a distance on the scoreboard throughout the game. The Mounties began the game hitting back-to-back three pointers to take a 6-0 lead. The hosts would go on to hit nine first half threes and 13 in total. Roberts never saw a lead in the game.
Roberts was able to bring the deficit to just four points with 30 seconds remaining in the game but Mansfield went 6-for-6 from the line to close out the win.
The Redhawks drop to 9-9 on the season. On Friday Roberts will travel to Queens for the second matchup of the season with the Knights. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
