WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a key East Coast Conference matchup the Roberts Wesleyan men's lacrosse team rolled past the University of the District of Columbia, 12-4.
Roberts sits in third place in the ECC standings with three games remaining in the season including two of those being conference games. The most pivotal contest comes up next Saturday when the Redhawks host Molloy. With a win, Roberts would clinch a spot in the post season.
The Redhawks got goals from six different players against UDC with
Cody Menzies and
Michael Pierog leading the way with three each.
After giving up the first goal of the game Roberts answered with eight straight goals including five in the first quarter alone.
The teams were nearly even in the amount of shots but the Redhawks proved to be more efficient with 27-of-34 shots on goal. The Firebirds managed to get just 12 shots on target.
Sam Schubach went 15-of-18 on face offs and led the team in ground balls with 11 in total.
Roberts (6-5, 2-2 ECC) will host Molloy next Saturday at 11 a.m.
