KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team won its second straight close match against Pennsylvania opponents when it edged Kutztown University 4-3 in a match played on the KU Courts.

Dennis Barlotta and Senior
Andrew Freeman were double winners for the Redhawks. They teamed to win the 3
rd doubles match against KU's Logan Kemp and Eric Gibson 6-1. They both went on to defeat the same two players by identical 6-0 scores at 5
th and 6
th singles. RWC's
Matthew Forrest then defeated KU's Ben Kelly 6-0, 6-3 at 4
th singles. The Golden Bears won at the top three singles spots. Nolan Peruguini defeated the Redhawk's
Guido Janssen at 1
st singles in three sets, taking the tiebreaker 10-5. KU's Renata Santos also won a three setter, defeating
Boyd Blackburn at 2
nd singles 11-9 in the 3
rd set tiebreaker. Josh Carl won in a straight set match at 4
th singles over
Harmeet Luthra.
The match format was altered due to weather and the singles were played first, each team winning three singles points. Barlotta and Freeman struck first in doubles with a 6-1 win at 3
rd. Jansen and Blackburn, both victims of close tiebreaker losses in singles, rallied to win the doubles point and the match for the Redhawks, defeating Peruguini and Santos 7-6(0) at 1
st doubles.
"We only won one of four tiebreak matches today, but it was the one that counted," said head coach
Tom Linhart. "This was a closely contested, hard fought college tennis match and I am pleased with how we pulled it out."
The 8-7 Redhawks travel to Washington DC for a Saturday showdown with ECC rival UDC at 2pm at the Southeast Tennis and Education Center.
