ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team battled the Saint Thomas Aquinas Spartans into double overtime that ended in a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Offensively, the Redhawks saw a lot of time in the Spartans defensive zone with a total of seven shots in the first half. Sophomore
Makenzie Muoio was the first to take a shot on goal in the 13th minute which was saved by STAC goalkeeper Colleen Stevens. Muoio also saw one other attempt in the first half. Other shots came from Senior
Israela Groves with two shots in the first half,
Julia Doriski,
Taylor Rutland, and Morgan Razanno.
In the second half, Roberts continued to put the pressure on Saint Thomas Aquinas and saw another six shots and kept the Spartans at only two.
Justine Sharda accounted for two shots and the others were by her teammates Groves,
Taylor Rutland, McKennzie Muir, and
Dejah Cooper. Even in a standout performance offensively, the regulation period ended 0-0.
Both overtime periods were in stride with the first two halves, high energy and quick play as the Redhawks continued to pressure the Spartans and anticipate plays but the shots did not come to fruition ending the game 0-0.
Roberts women's soccer team will be at home Saturday, October 5th at 1 p.m. in an East Coast Conference matchup against Queens College.
