Sindoni Scores Twice In Win Over D'Youville

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – October has been very good to the Roberts Wesleyan College women's soccer team.
The Redhawks  received two goals from sophomore Abigail Sindoni and extended their winning streak to four with a 2-0 victory over visiting D'Youville College in an East Coast Conference match on Saturday.
"We did what we needed to do," Roberts coach Sarah McClellan said. "I thought that we left some goals on the table, but sometimes it's good to have to play through those things."
Roberts (4-7-1, 4-3 ECC) had several opportunities early before breaking through when Sindoni made a strong run down the right side and finished in the 26th minute.
Roberts continued to generate chances throughout the first half, generating 18 shots but did not put the game away until Sindoni corralled a long ball from Maia LaVigne and found the back of the net for her team-leading fifth goal in the 86th minute.
"It's hard because she gets double man-marked and she just works through it," senior defender Haley Cole said. "She had some chances and she came through for us."
Despite dominating D'Youville, the goals did not come easy for Roberts.
"Once we got the first goal, we were like 'OK, we're on the board, we're fine," Sindoni said. "After the second goal, it was like 'OK, we're fine, we're going to finish this game.'"
Sophomore Nicolette Knauf posted her third shutout of the season.
Roberts outshot D'Youville 25-12 for the match and continues to make a push for a spot in the ECC Tournament. The Redhawks currently sit fourth in the ECC standings with 12 points.
"Now we are starting to connect from our backs, our mids, our forwards and our subs," Sindoni said. "We are all starting to click."
Roberts has a quick turnaround and will return to action on Monday for a non-conference match at Bluefield State College in Bluefield, W.Va.
