ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday night, defeating Mansfield University, 94-84.
A 6-0 run to end the first half capped off by a
Shane Fanning buzzer-beater gave the Redhawks all the momentum they needed heading into the halftime break. Roberts never trailed in the second half and built the lead to as much as 11 points.
Roberts had 10 different players contribute offensively with at least three points. Junior
Amari Lee paced the Redhawks with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.
Ja'Kair Sanchez scored 16 points and
Rian Carter and Fanning each finished with 13 points.
The Redhawks nailed 11 triples compared to just 6 from Mansfield.
Roberts (1-1) will be on the road for the next four games, beginning with Edinboro on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. The Redhawks won't be back home for a contest until Dec. 12 vs D'Youville.
